A Family Holiday In Dreams Palm Beach Punta Cana

In April we were lucky enough to be invited to my brother’s wedding in the Dominican Republic and we enjoyed a fantastic family holiday in Dreams Palm Beach. It is always a little strange to go on holiday to a resort that you haven’t chosen yourself but we were so happy with the place and spent an amazing two weeks with some fantastic people. Don’t you just love it when you meet friends of the family and extended family that are absolutely wonderful people? This trip was one of those occasions.

The Dominican Republic was not somewhere on my bucket list but I have to say the destination surpassed my expectations. The beach at the resort was absolutely gorgeous. Lovely soft white sands, cleared of seaweed every day. Plenty of sunbeds to choose from and swimming in the sea was easy and safe. Travelling with kids is not always easy, but the flight experience and the holiday were both relaxed and enjoyable!

The Rooms

We booked the premium club rooms which gave us a few additions and access to some amenities not otherwise available. Our room was ready on arrival and we were given a ground floor room in a quiet location, just as we had asked. We were also only seconds from the premium family pool and from the beach. A real plus for me. We had a standard room which included a king size bed, a cot bed for our daughter, a shower and bathroom area and a small terrace overlooking a garden area. Our mini bar was included and the room was cleaned every day, we had a turndown service and were left a mars bar and a small pot of Pringles every day.

The Pools

Four pools were available for us to use during our stay. Our nearest pool was the family premium club pool and it was the perfect size to enjoy with our daughter. There were sunbeds all around and waiter service too. There is an adult’s only pool in the premium section as well. But of course, as a family, we couldn’t make use of that one.  The main pool was great, a lazy river with large areas to swim and a shallow child’s pool, where toddlers could walk in the water. This is where the entertainment happens and there were scuba diving lessons, aqua aerobics and many other activities to take part in.

The Restaurants

Restaurants Dreams Palm Beach

The food here was incredible. We tried all of the restaurants apart from the French restaurant as this was adults only. The choices were Italian, Asian Fusion, Seaside Grill and Mexican for the evening. As well as the buffet ‘World Cafe’, all day and the barefoot grill at lunchtimes. I loved the coco cafe where I could get my fresh morning coffee, milk for the baby girl and fruit, yoghurt and pastries. Being a premium club customer we could have breakfast at the seaside grill, as well as the World Cafe. Both were great but we got special attention at the grill and it was nice to switch between service and buffet style. Our highlights included the Tappenyaki at the Asian restaurant with an absolutely fantastic chef cooking right in front of us!

The Beach

The beach area within the resort was a lovely place to relax. Peaceful and safe for the family, with drinks brought to your sunbeds by the excellent waiter service. There were two areas of the beach, the premium club and the main area. To be honest, there wasn’t much of a difference. In the premium area, there were more tables for your drinks, more space between the beds and perhaps a bit quieter. I have to say the beach was much better than I had read in the reviews. I am a beach person, I prefer the beach to the pool and it’s also much easier to keep a child safe at the beach too. The wide beach area meant there were never too many sunbeds between you and the sea and I always felt quite relaxed (even with an almost two-year-old).

The Wedding!

Beach wedding gazebo - a faily holiday in dreams palm beach

What a fantastic day! The setting was beautiful. A wooden white gazebo overlooking the soft sand beach and the turquoise sea. Of course, my brother and his wife looked absolutely gorgeous (and my husband and my baby girl too). The wedding made a family holiday in Dreams Palm Beach even more special. It was absolutely perfect. We enjoyed the ceremony, took some great photos then made our way to the conference centre (with air conditioning!!). We were greeted with a fantastic authentic Caribbean band and were served canapes and drinks. The day flowed so well, the organisation was completely on point! When we were all thoroughly merry we were taken into the ballroom for our dinner. The private room was a nice touch and the dinner was great. The children were especially well looked after by the staff.

Would I recommend a family holiday in Dreams Palm Beach?

Yes, I would! I had a fantastic time and think it is a great place for a relaxing family break. There are plenty of great food options and the buffet restaurant is honestly the best I have seen at an all-inclusive resort. The beach was an excellent place for families to enjoy and everything was in easy reach from your room at any part of the small resort. It was an amazing place for both a wedding and a holiday. So I would definitely recommend a family holiday in Dreams Palm Beach.
